For the Land Skills Fair in August 2021, the RLG team facilitated a workshop called If we don’t design systems, we inherit them to create a space for collective exploration of of group organising systems and power dynamics in the agroecology and land movements. Using Navigate‘s framework of Living Systems which we had learnt through their course Living Systems for Thriving Groups in 2020, we gave an overview of important aspects of group dynamics and systems.
We then discussed these further in smaller groups focuses around particular systems from: decision making, information flow, resource flow, conflict engagement, care, support & connection, and feedback. The workshop included a wide range of participating with varying levels of involvement in the agroecology movement who all brought experiences from different contexts. It was an initial conversation in ongoing work to develop spaces for strategic movement thinking.
